New Spore Titles Announced for Wii, DS, PC

We knew a Spore game for the Wii was coming, we just didn't know when. In a press release detailing some of their 2009 line-up Electronic Arts announced Spore Hero for the Nintendo Wii. Also in the release the first real expansion to the PC Spore was detailed, it is entitled Spore Galactic Adventures. "Spore Galactic Adventures adds a tremendous amount of variety and depth to the original “space game” in Spore, allowing players to beam down to planets, play mission-based adventures and even create their own customized adventures for the first time. Each adventure has a unique reward to upgrade a space creature with special accessories – from an Energy Blade and Stunning Charm to a Jump Jet and more. Players can fight their way to victory as a Warrior, dance with new friends as a Bard, and much more." EA Chief Discusses Lower-Than-Expected Sales

EA has been known to milk series for all they're worth, but things are changing. In EA's effert to change it's image, they released a series of original IPs this year. This has been great for gamers but how has it been for EA? Unfortunately, EA has had lower-than-expected revenue for it's financial year. Speaking at an investors conference call, EA CEO, John Riccitiello discussed this year's original EA titles. Spore sold well for EA and, not surprisingly, Riccitiello believes the title will be a strong on-going franchise. The 'MySims' games will most likely be an on-going franchise as well. Even with World of Warcraft looming over it, Riccitiello believes Warhammer will continue to do well for them for multiple years. What's his opinion of Dead Space? Spore Galactic Edition Announced

GameStop has just opened pre-orders for the collector's edition of Spore called the "Galactic Edition." Those of you who have been tirelessly recreating your favorite characters or monsters in the recently released Spore Creature Creator may want to head to your local GameStop and put this on reserve. The Galactic Edition contains the game, a making of DVD, "The Human toolkit" video by National Geographic, "The Art of Spore" minibook, a fold-out poster, and a 100 page galactic handbook. Running at $79.99 this edition seems a bit pricey for what you get keeping in mind the regular version is only $49.99. If you are still interested and must have every collector's edition that comes out you can reserve this at any GameStop or the game's page on GameStop.com.

10 Minute Spore Creature Creator Demo

Usually GamePlay Unlimited tends to steer clear of computer games, but Spore is an exception. IGN PC's Jason Ocampo got to spend time with the creature creator coming June 17th that allows players to create a creature prior to the full game release this September.
