Fable 2 DLC Brings an Old Friend Back

Warning, there could be mild spoilers in this story that revolves around your dog from Fable 2. If you have not beat it and do not want to get a hint at what happens do not click this story. Fable 2 Knothole Isalnd DLC Coming January 13

Lionhead has confirmed that the Fable 2 DLC "Knothole Island" will be available for download on January 13th. On the same day there will also be a free title update that adds some free items and lets those without the DLC play it via co-op mode. Lionhead has also released a new video diary: "In the latest installment of Lionhead Studio’s Video Diary series, the developers reveal some of the challenges they faced in the final days of making “Fable II” and offer a sneak preview of Knothole Island. Senior Programmer Jonathan Shaw and fellow members of the team hint at the new quests, weapons, items and specialty shops available on this mysterious isle off the coast of Albion, as well as some of the quirky characters that inhabit it."

Fable 2 DLC "Knothole Island" Announced (UPDATE)

Update: Citing technical issues, Lionhead has delayed the DLC release to January 2009. The first round of Fable 2 DLC has been officially announced by Lionhead Studios and Microsoft. "The epic journey begun in Fable II, the fastest selling RPG on Xbox 360, is not over. Starting mid-December 2008, fans will be summoned back into Albion's service with the release of the Knothole Island downloadable content pack. The remote island of Knothole is dying: its golden sands and lush vegetation are covered with snow, its people freezing, its treasures buried. Only a hero can face the trials of the three shrines to bring back the sunshine." The DLC also features co-op as the full game does, "Also in mid-December, fans everywhere will be able to enhance their Fable II experience with the release of a free Fable II downloadable pack exclusively on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Big Fable 2 Announcment Next Week

Over on the Lionhead developer blog there is an interesting post. Next week, according to the blog, there will be a big Fable 2 announcment. DLC seems to be a big possibility here. "Normally, we don't like to tease too much. You know, all this hype being generated by teasing the announcement that there will be an announcement in X-number of days. Who cares? But in this day and age where a gazillion titles are asking for your attention, I felt it might be the right thing to do on the blog. We've got some news for all Fable II fans next week, dare I even say it's quite a big announcement? Yes of course I dare say it's a big announcement regarding Fable II, next week!" Xbox Fable 2 Site Launches

Microsoft has just opened the official Fable 2 site on Xbox.com. Through the site you can view an interactive play of sorts where you play through a short story. Depending on how you play you will unlock free items in Fable 2 when you get the game and connect to Live. I got myself a Lionhead tattoo and a hero doll for the game. Check it out and try and win your hero/villain some free swag!

Co-op Will Be Available for Fable 2 on Release

A week ago the Fable 2 team announced that online co-op was most likely going to miss launch and have to be patched in at a later date. Good news, today the team announced that Fable 2 will recieve a day 1 patch to add in online co-op. "Remember a couple of days ago (or was it a week) where on a blog it was mentioned that Fable II would be shipping 'without' Online Co-op? And remember we said we were busting our balls to get it ready in time for a 'Day One' release? Well - news folks! It looks like we've done it...for all of you who are connected to Xbox Live, when starting up your copy of Fable II (on 21st October in USA, 24th October in Europe and 18th December in Japan). So all of you getting upset and all, you wouldn't even have noticed... Sort of. Well done to the team. Taken into account we don't fail certification!" Let's hope the certification passes so we can get some Fable co-op!

With all the Fable 2 limited edition announcements today, there is a good chance people are excited. Well, here is another reason for you to plunk down an extra $20 on the limited edition. Fable 2 Pub Games coming to XBLA

Want to get a headstart on gold collecting for Fable 2? Well you now have a chance thanks to Lionhead studios and Microsoft Game Studios. Via a press release , Fable 2 Pub Games for the Xbox Live Arcade were announced and dated for August prior to the game's release. The press release gives a few details about the games; "“Keystone,” which is a combination of Craps and Roulette, “Spinnerbox,” which is an updated take on slot machines, and “Fortune’s Tower,” which is a press your luck style of game. The download will also include a Shell, which is a tutorial of all three games. " The pub games will retail for 800 Microsoft points, but will be available for free to those who pre-order the game. Also announced was a collector's edition of Fable to retailing for $79.99. So go out and pre-order now and gamble away your future Fable money!

Want to Appear in Fable 2?

Lionhead is looking for people to appear in paintings in one of "Albion's finest residences." So how can you get in and possibly wind up immortalized forever in Fable 2 for the Xbox 360? Just send in a photo of you in a "suitable artistic pose." Hit the jump for the official release and link to the page. We are looking for artist's models to pose for the paintings which will adorn the wall of Albion's finest residences.
