GTA4 Features and Multiplayer Details

With the release of Grand Theft Auto 4 getting closer, news is slowly starting to appear. Today, we found out about a few more features and possible details on multiplayer. Hit the jump for the full details.

Days of the Week and Slow-Mo Driving:
MTV’s Multiplayer reports GTA will feature days of the week. There are no months or seasons though. While pausing a two-week-old build of the game, MTV’s Multiplayer discovered “Thursday” near the map in the pause menu. The Rockstar PR rep explained Niko could be scheduled to do certain tasks on certain days. One example of this is the mission “The Final Interview.” Niko must apply for a job and go in for an interview on a Saturday where he must carry out the rest of his mission. The mission can’t be completed any other day.

Also, they were able to try out the slow-mo driving. The rep encouraged them to hold B on the Xbox 360 controller and the camera shifted into an elevated cinematic view. From here, clicking in and holding the left stick let them drive in slow-mo (they stated it was a little awkward holding the stick in while steering). The rep stated you can continue to drive like this as long as you hold in the stick.

Multiplayer Details:
GTA.net have translated an article in PSM Spain about GTA4’s multiplayer. According to the translation of the article, PSM Spain looked at the games 15 multiplayer modes. Yeah, you heard that right. Players can pick from 15 different modes as well as the ability to play with up to 16 players online. Also, players will be able to customize their character (race, sex, hair, and clothing). They also state the multiplayer will be played on the same map as the single player.

Here is the list of game modes from the article:
• Car Jack City
• Bomb da Base
• Bomb da Base II
• Mafia Work
• Team Mafia Work
• Deathmatch
• Team Deathmatch
• Turf War
• Cops N Crooks
• Race
• GTA Race
• Deal Breaker
• Free Mode
• Car Jack City

We will have to wait for more solid information on multiplayer but if the translation is correct, it appears to pack the same great variety the single player is known for. We’ll keep you updated on any more news on GTA4.
