Mirror's Edge E-Mail Campaign

Image
Got this note in my inbox today from the Mirror's Edge site, it is a wanted poster for the game's main character Faith. It looks as if DICE and EA are beginning the advertising push to Mirror's Edge's launch next month. It is good to see, this game has not received a ton of attention among the many AAA titles coming over the next weeks. If you have not seen/heard much on the game head over to our Mirror's Edge FAQ for more information and video links.

Mirror's Edge a Trilogy? DICE Says Yes

Image
Mirror's Edge may be one of the most interesting games coming out this year on a conceptual basis. Whether it works as a whole is yet to be seen with the launch coming in less than a month. Senior Producer Owen O'Brien seems to think the game will do very well, in fact he has just announced that Mirror's Edge is set to be a trilogy. AusGamers has the interview, with this quote: "The story we're telling at the moment is kind of a trilogy, a three-story arc," stated O'Brien, "certainly for these first couple games, it's all about Faith." Also mentioned was the possibility of a level editor coming in the sequel: "It's something we're probably going to look at for the sequel." For now, we will just have to wait and see how the first game measures up this November.

Mirror's Edge FAQ

Mirror's Edge FAQ now located here. Mirror's Edge is nearly upon us and I have been running into questions about the game so I decided to put together an FAQ. Take a look and enjoy! FYI: Some of the material in this FAQ is quoted from external sources. If so, you will see the item in quotation marks and a source at the end. The reason for this is that some information is only available via exclusive interviews or stories (such as the EGM article from the October issue). A lot of the material is my own work, a piecing together of information put into my own words. If you have a question about a source, check the citations at the end of the FAQ or send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to answer! 1.    Who is developing Mirror’s Edge? Mirror’s Edge is being developed by Digital Illustrations CE (DICE). DICE is known for their Battlefield series of games on PC and consoles. The game is being published by DICE’s owner, Electronic Arts. 2.    What engine is Mirror’s Edge running on? Mi...

Mirror's Edge Not Timed PS3 Exclusive

Image
PSX Extreme is reporting on a rumor that was circling the internet last week that SCEE President David Reeves let slip a hint that Mirror's Edge would be a timed exclusive to the PS3. EA has come out and fully denied the rumor; "according to the PR manager for the game, Peter Nguyen, the potentially innovative title will ship "this winter on PS3, X360, and PC." He goes on to say that " Mirror's Edge will not be a timed exclusive for PS3." Can't get any clearer than that, folks." So 360 owners fear not, you will be able to go running with Faith at the same time as your PS3 brethren.

Bad Company Fixes Inbound Soon

Image
A story posted on the Battlefield: Bad Company site states that DICE is in fact looking at community feedback about some of the big issues in Bad Company. The story talks about the addition of conquest mode, along with the compatible versions of the maps, being in Microsoft certification stage as well as some of the issues that have come up in the week following the game's release being looked in to. Currently there is a short list of issues DICE plans to look into after conquest is released, but it offers some big fixes: * Clan support/private rooms/team chat * Auto balancing on servers * Continued support against stats exploits * VOIP issue on PS3 (working with Sony on this) * Squads might be split up when joining a server as a squad. This is due to team balancing in the games that are being joined, and usually resolves itself in round 2. There may be a few more issues looked in to (why can't you pull your gun/knife up right away after sprinting?) but it is good to see the ...
