To compliment the new movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" from 20th Century Fox, Activision has released new details on the game that will launch this May along side the movie. The game is being developed by Raven Software and will release on almost every system known to man (360, Ps3, Wii, DS, PC, PSP, and PS2. With the announcement of Activision seemingly canning a few of their big upcoming games being developed by smaller studios (including Terminal Reality's Ghostbusters game) rumblings have begun that Acti-Blizz is out to close some of their more under-performing studios. A story over at gamesindustry.biz sites analyst Signal Hillas suggesting that "Activision Blizzard will likely close under performing development studios in order to save money." So which studios could be on the chopping block? Well Sierra looks to be the number one candidate. The article also goes on to say "The publisher has said that Swordfish Studios and Massive Entertainment may be sold, while Radical Entertainment and High Moon Studios will be "realigned" as the company restructures in the wake of its USD 18.9 billion merger." The company is expected to keep high selling IPs such as Spyro and Crash bandicoot, as well as the upcoming game Prototype. More on this developing story...

The world will gets its first look at Treyarch's Call of Duty 5: World at War this weekend exclusively on Xbox Live. A trailer for the upcoming CoD5 will premiere on Xbox Live only from June 21-22, so be sure to download it as soon as possible. Call of Duty 5: World at War is set in the pacific during World War 2. Treyarch has taken a lot of heat for returning the series to World War 2 so the trailer this weekend will really show if it was a good idea or not. CoD5 is planned to release later this year.

Activision announced today that the multi-platinum selling rock band Coldplay is to release their newest single "Violet Hill" in a Guitar Hero 3 download pack to help promote their new album. The album is entitled "Viva la Vida" is set to release worldwide on June 17th, you can also see Coldplay on the latest Apple commercials. The track pack will also contain two older Coldplay songs, "Yellow" and "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face." UPDATE: The scans at MaximumFear have been taken down for legal reasons. GamesTM magazine and the latest Official Xbox Magazine (with strategyinformer.com and Videogame247.com reporting) have the first details of the next game in the Call of Duty franchise being developed by Treyarch. Call of Duty 5 will head back to the 1940's and World War 2, but this time will be set somewhere in the Pacific region. The game will support co-op and is also being developed for the Nintendo Wii with Wii Zapper support. “There will be co-op for the first time in a Call of Duty. Also there will be vehicles and squad-based elements to the multiplayer. Formats: PC, PS3, 360 and Wii. The Wii version is being worked on by a separate team within Treyarch. Well, four months after the release of Guitar Hero 3 on the Wii, Activision finally announced a refund program for the troubles... If you are in the dark about the issue of the Wii version, it was released stating it would support Dolby Digital surround sound, but when gamers tried to play the game through surround, they only got one channel of audio through multiple speakers, which is mono sound. Activision initially offered a disc replacement program ( which is still available ) but decided ultimately to offer refunds to the angry gamers.
